Canada Media Fund – Experimental Projects List

During the Under the City/Lost Rivers project presentation, we talked a little about the Canada Media Fund – a funding body for primarily for-profit film and television projects, including interactive, mobile and other applications. Here’s the list of just-approved projects (including the investment amounts) that will now get underway.

For example:

“Herd Inc. Application. Internet, Mobile. English ON $599,250. Herd is a brand new mobile application and community platform created for locationbased music discovery and social connectivity. Herd streams geo-tagged, GPS-enabled music files to a community which can then share songs based on location. It provides a revolutionary user experience that lets artists and labels reconnect with an audience that has the power to virally spread their music.

Radiant Media Inc. Juicr. Website. Internet/Mobile. Bilingual ON $366,751.  Juicr’s groundbreaking utility will bring real business value to existing networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter through the application of technologies associated with the next generation, “intelligent internet”. Juicr will create a navigable, composite picture of Canada’s creative industries, and will help Canadian professionals expand existing opportunities and discover new ones”

Currently, Luka is teaching a graduate course in media, culture & society at Mount Saint Vincent University. In addition, ME is an award-winning producer and director for television and digital media as well as an experienced consultant in art, culture and media. She is an active leadership volunteer, including as Vice-Chair of Arts Nova Scotia, the new funding body for many artists and arts organizations in the province. For fun, she likes - umm - art, culture, and media, as well as travel, friends and family. @meluka01 |
